Be warned: it advertises as family friendly, but there are F bombs and other curse words often, and sexual situations are not off the table for topics. There was a dad who decided to take his middle school aged kid out halfway through. If you’re looking for good clean humor, this 7 PM show every Friday isn’t for you. It’s not to a hyper-raunchy degree: in fact, it was refreshing compared to a few other shows we’ve been at at other places that were just extremely uncomfortable. But it’s definitely not family friendly.
We did enjoy our visit to Third Coast Comedy Club! We came for the 7 PM group Improv show.
A side note: my wife got sick when we were supposed to go a month ago, and the staff was super helpful. While they don’t offer refunds, they kept our tickets “on hold” for us until I called in a few hours before and set our show for tonight. It was easy and quick.
Traffic is crazy to get out there, but that’s Nashville. While parking is a bit much, especially because something crazy was happening nearby that night that brought 100s of teenage girls to see something ($2.50 an hour for the lots nearby), we got our way in.
The club is in a renovated motorcar factory with tons of booths and shops inside along with the old factory equipment. It’s a fun atmosphere in the building. The bar is classy and a nice hangout area. The club itself is a bit cramped. We almost left because they asked us to split up since there’s no standing allowed during the show. Unless you reserve a table, the seats go fast. We did finally convince our guy to move a chair to get ourselves a spot to sit next to each other, which technically wasn’t “allowed” but we made it work. Long story short: be sure to get there very early.
The show itself is SO fun. It’s in three parts: an hour short-skit section, a 10 minute intermission followed by a twenty-minute long form improv, then a brief standup section. The performers, who are mostly drama students at Vanderbilt if I’m not mistaken, are so fun. The light guy and piano guy have tons of fun adding cues and moments to the show. The audience was on fire tonight, with lots of great suggestions and input. There were several short skits where audience members had really fun roles, like a couple who got to see an “average day” played out after describing themselves. The performers do break character and crack up a lot, but it’s fun because you feel like “We’re all in this whacky thing together.”
We’d definitely come back to Third Coast for another show! Overall: get there early, don’t bring your kids, and have a blast!
This is a great place to catch a show. The main stage normally sells out, so get your tickets online ahead of time.
I highly recommend the Level 1 Improv class to anyone, whether you want to take the full training or not.
We purchased tickets to a 7pm skit show weeks in advance. Loved it so much we asked for availability to the 9pm stand up show. Somehow we got in!! At 10:30, we were sad it was time to go. We had a great night!
We are from Minnesota and just found it online. We had a awesome time great small club and fun bartender. Will definitely come again.
Loved the experience!
This was our first improv comedy show. The place is tiny, the comedians don't even have microphones. We're used to big gigs so this was a nice change. Everyone was definitely close but it wasn't uncomfortable.
Cocktails were a bit weak, but I won't remove a star for that because overall I was there for comedy...and comedy I got!
The lights guy and piano guy are right there so it was cool to see them too.
I give the comedians a lot of credit, they were witty and funny, engaging with the audience as warranted. It made for a great night! We aren't huge nightlife people so this provided just enough entertainment to make our stay fun, without being crammed In a bar nightclub.
We bought tickets to a 7pm show. The show as fun, definitely worth the value, and the venue was interesting and kept us entertained while waiting for the show to begin. The bar service was good and fairly priced as well. For a small club, the show was well produced (lighting, sound, schedule, etc.)
The club itself is great. The improv shows are generally hilarious and very fun to attend. The people working at the club and the bar are all very friendly also. I would give them a full 5 stars, however, they no longer offer free parking for those of us who buy tickets. Their email still says they offer free parking... which is very frustrating. When you use the code they provide in their emails and follow the steps, now instead of it being free, it is $10 a vehicle. They should not tell you that you get free parking. I would have carpooled with others had I known they no longer offer free parking. I enjoyed going to this club a lot because it was inexpensive, a great experience, and they offered free parking (I cannot stand having to pay for parking at events I already have spent money on). I probably will not go to shows here as often now. People who live on a budget cannot afford to pay for parking everywhere they go. Nashville is notorious for absurd parking fees. Where does this money even go?
3rd time here. Always an absolute smash hit evening. I bring guest from out of town and its the highlight of the trip. It’s the most joyous thing you could do with an evening.
